Abstract

In 1920, Walter Lehmann proposed the existence of genealogical relationship betwenn the Chibchan and the Misumalpan lenguages. This hypotesis has been widely accepted since then, but had not been proven. In this article it is verified by means of the comparative method, and the phonemic system of the common ancestor is reconctructed. In addition, a lexicostatistic study is carried out both with subclassificatory and glottochronological goals.
