Abstract

This paper is a description of the contributions of Dr. Adolfo Constenla Umaña to the divulgation of knowledge about Chibchan languages and in particular, within the family, the Costa Rican indigenous languages. It includes his participations in major language encyclopedias of world renown, his production of practical alphabets and other teaching materials essential to the teaching of indigenous languages and the creation of the only journal specialized in Chibchan languages: Estudios de Lingüística Chibcha.
