Discusión crítica sobre la idea de una mitología chibchense y sus implicaciones para pensar en simbolismos areales

Abstract

Adolfo Constenla’s pioneering approaches about traditional litterature of the Chibchean peoples are taken as a starting point to explore whether there is a specifically Chibchean mythology. For that purpose, Claude Lévi-Strauss and Enrique Margery studies about American Indian comparative mythology are reviewed. Those studies point out from different theoretical and methodological approaches, narrative and symbolical similarities between myths from Chibchean peoples and peoples with other linguistic and cultural affiliation. This raises questions about the existence of a specific and common mythic heritage for the Chibchean peoples. It is therefore suggested that comparative mythology studies must be resumed and deepened, to find new explanations of the similarities and differences between myths from different cultural traditions.
