Aculturación léxica en bribri

Abstract

This paper deals with the different strategies used to coin lexical innovations in the Bribri language in order to refer to items not belonging to the traditional Bribri cul- ture and environment. In this language, four main formation strategies are identified: lexical borrowing, semantic extension, composition/derivation and onomatopoeia. A list of all the terms registered during the investigation is included at the end of the article.
