Trabajando en el Edén: Sobre la metodología del trabajo de campo

Abstract

The fieldwork methodology implies to learn some skills that, hardly, can be achieved
in a conventional class of Linguistics. The study of languages in minority communities
involves direct interactions with their native speakers. Therefore, it is relevant for
a linguist to be taught in this practice. The following paper offers a record of some
the author's experiences as a researcher of Terraba (Chibchan language) and of the
English-based Creole English of Central America.
