Abstract
The purpose of this article is to describe the mass media use (principally TV) among Costa Rican youths from two different provinces, namely, Limón and San José (N=1118). Special attention is paid on the role of the mass media in the way in which adolescents amange their leisure time and use the mass media. The article also explores several potentiaL factors influencing these processes such as gender, socio-economic status, ethnicity, province of residence and age. The article ends with some considerations about the use of mass media in context of the cultural globalisation.
