Abstract
This paper refers to tbe drug-dependence phenomenon in Costa Rica. It shows a general view supported in national statistics. However, this kind of data does not provide a deep comprenhension of the situation. In this way, a sociopolitical and economical analysis of the aspects that configure the "drugs world" is essential. Moreover, psychoanalitic considerations are discussed as elements that help to understand drugs consumption. Finally, some reflections about drugs' legalization are presented.
