Abstract

This article expounds a theoretical discussion about the urban segregation concept. Refers to the manner in which classics of urban sociology have theoreticaly approached the construction of this concept, and includes a critical review concerning the way it is used by latinoamerican sociologists and urbanists. Finally, there is an effort to define the specific contents of this concept and the utility for the study of urban phenomenon.
