Abstract
This paper attempts to do a sociohistoric synthesis of tbe costarrican syndical movement, between 1988 and 1993, as well as an analysis of tbe main problems faced nowadays. General information in the fist part, is the starting point to understand the effects of structural adjustment, in the relationship between patroness and workers. The second part analyzes the most significant struggles impeled by syndicates, as a response to structural adjustment and actual challenges. It finishes pointing out some obstacles and defiances, which have to be faced in case they intend to recover its historic validity.
